Prayers to St. John of God

PRAYER TO ST. JOHN OF GOD - 01:

R. O Blessed Father John,

C. Perfect model of charity,

may your intercession obtain for us,

that spirit of charity which covers a multitude of sins.

R. Pray for us, holy father John of God.

C. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

R. Let us pray:

O God, who caused blessed John when burning with love for you,

to walk unharmed through the midst of flames,

and through him enriched your Church with a new religious family;

grant that, through the help of his merits,

our sins may be burned away by the fire of your love,

and eternal remedies may come to us.

Through Christ our Lord.

C. Amen.

PRAYER TO ST. JOHN OF GOD - 02:

St. John of God,

patron of the sick and compassionate Brother to all who suffer or are troubled in any way,

I turn to you with great confidence in my time of need.

I ask you John to speak to Jesus on my behalf.

He will listen to you because you tried to be like Him in the compassion and love you had for people in need.

I know only Jesus can really help me,

but I also know that He can be influenced by someone close to Him,

I plead with you Brother John to present this special intention of mine to Jesus so that He may grant it,

according to His will ……(mention the intention).

Help me John to strengthen my faith,

my hope and love for Jesus and our Mother Mary for whom you had such a special love.

All glory to the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

PRAYER TO ST. JOHN OF GOD - 03:

The V Centenary Prayer (by Bro. Pascual Piles, O.H.) O Lord,

as You touched St. John of God, touch us too.

Transform our being and give us,

like him, the capacity to choose You and to choose others,

particularly those who suffer.

Make us sensitive

to the needs of others,

make us capable of being with each one of them,

of being open and reaching out to those who need us.

May we like him, with his spirit, and with the aid of technology,

choose to be hospitality for others, especially those who suffer.

Amen, Jesus.

PRAYER TO ST. JOHN OF GOD - 04:

Father,

gave our Father John of God love and compassion for others.

Grant that by doing good for others

we may be counted among the saints in your kingdom.

PRAYER TO ST. JOHN OF GOD - 05:

O glorious Saint,

full of tenderness and compassion for the afflicted,

who, as a reward for your charity

merited to minister to Jesus Christ under the appearance of a patient,

obtain for us the grace to ever see Jesus Christ Himself

in the person of our neighbor,

so that we may be found worthy

to receive the eternal bliss promised

to those who serve the Divine Master

in the person of the sick, the poor and the needy.
